Native American Heritage

Hundreds
of thousands of Native Americans occupied the North American continent when
Columbus claimed this "new" land for his queen. The aborigines welcomed the
newcomers at first, but as their lifestyles were inexorably changed and their
very lives threatened by new diseases for which they had no resistance, they
grew to regard the interlopers for what they really were.
