Oregon Trail

Oregon Trail landmark Chimney Rock

The Oregon Trail - 2,000 miles stretching from St. Louis to Oregon City - represented all the hopes and dreams of 19th century Americans seeking new opportunities.  By re-tracing their steps we can better understand who we are, where we have been, and how we as a society might approach the future.

This 14-day heritage program includes Oregon Trail landmarks which cheered the emigrants onward toward their destination: Chimney Rock, Scotts Bluff, the Platte River, Fort Laramie, South Pass (the gateway to the Rockies), and the "Big Blues", Oregon's last mountainous obstacle.

Along the way participants meet some of the migrants themselves through diaries and living history re-enactments.
